Job summary

Procom is seeking a Senior Java Developer for the Thinkorswim Performance Engineering team to independently plan and deliver performance and resiliency initiatives for a Java-based trading platform. The role focuses on low-latency, scalability and reliability across client, server, gateway, infrastructure, and cloud environments.

Ideal candidates have deep Core Java knowledge, strong diagnostic skills, and a track record in high-throughput, real-time systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering is required.
• 5+ years of Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud development.
• 5+ years with distributed systems, real-time processing, databases, and messaging systems.
• Linux background with shell scripting is required.
• Strong concurrency and multi-threading experience.
• Experience diagnosing JVM issues and memory management.
• Experience with resiliency implementations and high-throughput, low-latency Java systems.
• Proficiency with monitoring tools such as Splunk or Grafana; cloud exposure (AWS/Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with SDLC practices and DevOps/build processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code performance test scripts in Core Java and maintain a Unix shell/Python framework.
• Develop custom tooling, mock services, and maintain tool repository.
• Gather and analyze performance requirements with stakeholders.
• Write performance test plans, run tests, monitor behavior, and identify bottlenecks.
• Identify thresholds and tune systems for resiliency and scalability.
• Support production monitoring and work with Performance QA on stressed runs.
• Learn complex codebases quickly and propose scalable solutions.
