Job summary

New York Technology Partners is seeking a senior Java backend engineer with strong Spring Boot and microservices experience. Hybrid work in the US, with locations in Richmond, VA or Atlanta, GA. Long-term W2 contract.

You will design and implement enterprise web applications, REST APIs, and scalable services while collaborating with architects and product owners. The role requires 7+ years in Java/J2EE, front-end skills (Angular/React), and experience with MongoDB and relational databases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of software development experience with Java/J2EE.
• Strong proficiency in Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA and Spring Security.
• Front-end experience with Angular or React, TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3.
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of NoSQL (MongoDB) and relational databases (Oracle/SQL Server/PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Proficiency with Git-based source control and Agile/Scrum practices.
• Experience with Copilot, AI prompting tools and modern SDLC practices

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise web applications using Java and modern frontend tech.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Develop responsive UI components using Angular or React.
• Create scalable backend services with Spring Boot and related modules.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and backlog grooming.
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices.
• Perform unit and integration testing and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot performance, security, and scalability issues.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and support automated deployments.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases to model and optimize data.
• Support production deployments and incident resolution as needed.
