Job summary

HTD Talent's client is seeking a Senior Java Developer with 5-7 years of software engineering experience to design, develop, and support enterprise-grade applications. The role emphasizes Java/J2EE, Spring, microservices, REST APIs, and cloud experiences, with a preference for banking/financial services knowledge.

The position is a W2 contract in Newark, Delaware. You will work across the full SDLC, from design through deployment.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Java and J2EE.
• Proven experience designing and developing microservices architectures.
• Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with API management tools and technologies.
• Understanding of 12-factor application development principles.
• Experience working with cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
• Knowledge of relational databases such as SQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
• Experience using source control tools such as Git, SVN, or Mercurial.
• Previous technology experience within the banking industry.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices and the full SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performing, scalable enterprise applications using Java and Java EE.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and implementation.
• Develop and maintain microservices-based applications using Spring and related Java frameworks.
• Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs and API management solutions.
• Apply 12-factor application principles to support cloud-native application development.
• Develop and support applications operating in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Work with relational databases, including SQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
• Collaborate with development teams, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable technical solutions.
• Utilize version control tools such as Git, Mercurial, or SVN.
• Troubleshoot application issues, optimize performance, and maintain code quality.
