Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable enterprise applications that support healthcare payer operations. You will collaborate with architects, product owners, and platform teams to build secure, high‑performing solutions using microservices, Java, Python, cloud technologies, and modern data platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and REST API development.
• Hands‑on experience with Python and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Experience with cloud and container technologies, including AWS (EC2, EMR, RDS, S3, Athena), Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Experience with CI/CD and software quality tools such as GitLab, CloudWatch, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Experience working within the Healthcare Payer domain.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable microservices‑based applications using Java, Spring Boot, Python, and cloud‑native technologies.
• Build and optimize backend services, APIs, and database solutions that support high‑volume healthcare payer operations and business workflows.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define technical requirements, estimate effort, and deliver high‑value features through Agile development practices.
• Improve application performance, reliability, and scalability by identifying bottlenecks, implementing monitoring solutions, and resolving production issues.
• Contribute to code quality, automated testing, CI/CD practices, and engineering best practices through code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
