Job summary

Publicis Sapient in Chicago is seeking an Enterprise Java Architect focused on Java microservices to design, develop, and optimize scalable, cloud-native applications that deliver business value.

You bring 8+ years in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), with Docker/Kubernetes, RESTful APIs, and CI/CD; you will lead technical direction, mentor peers, ensure security and observability, and collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Java development, with a strong focus on microservices architecture.
• Proven expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and other Java-based frameworks for building microservices.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps best practices.
• Proficiency using AI pair-programmers and engineering assistants (specifically GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code) to optimize workflow efficiency and accelerate problem-solving
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a passion for delivering high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Java-based microservices architectures that are scalable, resilient, and high-performing.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure best practices in microservices development, including API design, security, and observability.
• Optimize system performance and ensure seamless integration with cloud-native technologies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Stay up to date with emerging trends in Java, microservices, and cloud computing to drive continuous improvement.
