Job summary

BNY is seeking a Senior Java Full Stack Developer to lead development, support, and modernization of critical business applications. This role combines hands‑on engineering with technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and platform ownership across both legacy and new application development.

This role is based in Pittsburgh, PA with an expectation of 4 days onsite per week. You will architect, build, and operate APIs, microservices, and data integrations using Java, Spring Boot, Angular,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with production systems
• Experience owning both development and support for business-critical applications
• Strong full stack experience with Java and Angular
• Experience with Java Spring Boot
• Experience with APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, and messaging technologies such as Kafka or MQ
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, or Docker
• Strong experience with CI/CD, testing strategies, and DevOps practices
• Solid understanding of application security, IAM, secrets management, and vulnerability management
• AI-driven development experience required
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills
• Bachelor’s degree required

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities

• Full Stack Engineering Leadership: Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of business-critical applications across the full software lifecycle.
• Application Modernization: Support legacy applications while helping build new solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular.
• Stakeholder Partnership: Work directly with business teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical recommendations, and deliver effective solutions.
• Platform Ownership: Own both build and run responsibilities, including application maintenance, resiliency, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
• Secure and Scalable Design: Design and support APIs, microservices, event‑driven solutions, and data integrations with a focus on scalability, resiliency, and security.
• DevOps & Delivery Excellence: Drive CI/CD, release management, testing practices, and engineering standards to improve software quality and delivery.
• Team Support & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, support code reviews, and contribute to a strong engineering culture.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant responsibility for production systems
• Proven experience owning both development and support for business-critical applications
• Strong full stack engineering experience with Java and Angular
• Experience with Java Spring Boot
• Experience with APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, and messaging technologies such as Kafka or MQ
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, or Docker
• Strong experience with CI/CD, testing strategies, and DevOps practices
• Solid understanding of application security, IAM, secrets management, and vulnerability management
• AI‑driven development experience required
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and decision‑making skills
• Bachelor’s degree required

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, or Python
• Experience with Oracle and SQL Server
• Exposure to Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, or data warehousing initiatives
• Experience with AI/ML‑enabled features or analytics platforms
• Experience working in a regulated enterprise environment
