Job summary

Kayak is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to design, implement, and scale data‑driven backend features for our world‑leading travel platform. You will parse, analyze, and integrate large data sets and build robust API connections with partners.

This role is based in Concord, MA and requires working from the office at least 3 days per week. You will own features end‑to‑end, review code, and help shape scalable, high‑performance solutions for enterprise customers.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of Java development experience.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Good communication skills for technical and non‑technical colleagues.
• Experience with MySQL or Oracle databases.
• Travel industry experience is a plus.
• Experience with B2B systems or HR integrations (SCIM, SAML/OAuth, SSO).
• Unix shell scripting, Spring & Mybatis, DOM/XPath/JQuery/CSS, REST/SOAP, and ML concepts.

Responsibilities

• Extract data from databases, write scripts to parse, clean, and combine data.
• Communicate with APIs via REST or SOAP interfaces.
• Configure enterprise applications for large customers.
• Develop tools to assist in debugging existing products.
• Build and maintain high‑performance integrations with third‑party APIs (airlines, hotels, car providers).
• Take ownership of designs from concept to deployment with high code quality and performance.
• Participate in code reviews and architectural steering for modular, scalable solutions.
