Job summary

KAYAK is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to implement features and maintain our data-driven platform in Concord, MA. You will parse and analyze large datasets, build API integrations, and drive code quality across modules.

You should have 6–8 years of Java experience, strong fundamentals, and experience with MySQL/Oracle. B2B and HR-system integrations are a plus, along with REST/SOAP API development and Spring/MyBatis.

Qualifications

  • 6–8 years of experience with Java programming.
  • Strong understanding of fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and software design.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Good communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL or Oracle).
  • Experience with B2B systems or identity/HR integrations (e.g., SCIM, SAML/OAuth, SSO).
  • Experience with API development using REST, Web Service, SOAP; familiarity with Spring & MyBatis frameworks.

Good candidates will have a passion in processing data to help drive better business decisions or to develop new features, in a fast-paced environment where many small and diverse projects are the norm.This role will be required to work from our Concord, MA office at least 3 days per week. In this role, you will:

Responsibilities
  • Extract data from databases, write scripts to parse, clean, combine, and process them
  • Communicate with APIs via REST or SOAP interfaces.
  • Configure enterprise applications for large customers.
  • Develop tools to assist in the debugging of existing products.
  • Build and maintain high-performance integrations with third-party APIs (airlines, hotel and rentalcars providers)
  • Take full ownership of your designs: from initial concept to deployment while maintaining high standards for code quality and performance
  • Participate in code reviews and architectural steering to ensure the K4B project remains modular and reusable as KAYAK expands its enterprise footprint
Requirements
  • +6-8 years of experience with Java programming
  • Strong understanding of programming fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and software design
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Good communication skills for sharing ideas clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Experience with relational databases like MySQL or Oracle
  • Prior experience in the travel domain is beneficial
  • Experience with B2B systems or identity/HR integrations is beneficial — e.g., SCIM, SAML/OAuth, SSO, user provisioning/deprovisioning, and connecting HRIS/IDP platforms (Workday, Okta, Active Directory) to product services.
  • Experience with the following: Unix shell scripting Spring & Mybatis frameworksDOM and using XPath, JQuery & CSSAPI development using REST, Web Service, SOAP, etcMachine Learning

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for this Massachusetts based role is $125,000-140,000, not inclusive of annual bonus and recurring RSU grants.
