Job summary

UST España & Latam is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join a global, finance-sector project. You will design robust APIs, develop microservices, and apply DevOps practices to ensure scalable, reliable software.

Location: 100% remote for Spain-based candidates. English is required; Spanish is a plus. You will participate in on-call rotations and collaborate in an agile environment with a cross-functional SRE team.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of developer experience in operations.
• Production-grade API development with Java & Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of SOLID, SOA, HTTP and REST.
• Microservices on container orchestration architectures.
• API testing with Wiremock, Pact, Postman and Cucumber.
• OAuth authentication/authorization.
• Distributed tracing and logging tools.
• Infra as code and CI/CD via Jenkins.
• Back-end architecture and design patterns.
• Distributed systems with performance, scalability, resiliency.
• Advanced English level (B2+/C1).

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a SRE cross-functional group applying Site Reliability Engineering principles to in-house developed front-end applications.
• Ensure highly available, fault tolerant applications.
• Identify, troubleshoot and pre-empt operational issues with code changes.
• Preserve platform health and implement tech compliance.
• Drive engineering best practices and set team standards.

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with strong software engineering expertise and a DevOps mindset to build and maintain efficient, scalable, and reliable software solutions. The ideal candidate enjoys creating robust APIs, distributed systems, and best-practice frameworks that enable teams to deliver high-quality applications. You'll work on a global customer project in the financial services sector---a leading provider of credit cards, auto loans, banking, and savings accounts.

**Location:**100% Remote for candidates based in Spain.

**Language:**English is a must. Spanish desirable.

On-call support: Paid 24/7 on-call rotation. One week on-call every 5-6 weeks with compensation for on-call hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as part of a SRE cross-functional group of engineers in applying Site Reliability Engineering principles to in-house developed front-end applications.
• Have a clear oversight on how managed systems relate to each other, with autonomy to continuously iterate improvements to achieve highly available, fault tolerant applications.
• Identify, troubleshoot and pre-empt operational issues being able to understand and modify code.
• Preserve the platform health and implement tech compliance
• Drive engineering best practice (e.g, Operational Excellence, Security, Quality, Resilience etc.) and set standards across the team.
• Estimate, scope and plan your work within an agile environment.

Your Profile

• +6 years of experience as Developer in Operations
• Production-grade experience of developing and managing API's using Java & Springboot.
• Excellent understanding of SOLID principles, SOA, HTTP and REST.
• Production experience running microservices on container orchestration architectures.
• Passionate about API testing utilising tools similar to Wiremock, Pact, Postman and Cucumber.
• Good understanding of API authentication and authorisation mechanisms like OAuth.
• Understand the concept of distributed tracing and have some experience working with logging tools
• Basic knowledge of infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipeline management via Jenkins.
• Strong experience in back-end architectural and design patterns.
• Good knowledge of distributed systems at backend with a proven track record in Performance, Scalability, and Resiliency.
• Advanced English level (B2+/C1)

Business Hours. No intensive working days on Friday or during summer.
