Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Application Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Java applications and web services. The developer will work with a team of application developers, engineers, and subject matter experts to build new applications and modernize legacy systems serving public and internal users.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java development, PostgreSQL, AWS cloud environments, and RESTful web services. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java applications and RESTful web services.
• Build new applications and modernize existing legacy applications.
• Enhance existing Java web applications based on business and user requirements.
• Develop web applications using Java frameworks, preferably EJB and JSF.
• Design and develop APIs using PostgreSQL for data storage and retrieval.
• Implement authentication and authorization using OAuth2, OpenAM, or similar standards.
• Support CI/CD pipeline development and deployment within AWS environments.
• Ensure application security and implement appropriate data encryption standards.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Collaborate with developers, engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Research new technologies and recommend improvements to application architecture.

Required Technical Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience with Java Core, Java EE (JEE), JPA, and JPQL.
• 5+ years of experience with JSF / PrimeFaces.
• 10+ years of experience with PostgreSQL SQL and PL/pgSQL.
• 5+ years of experience with Cloud Computing / AWS.
• 5+ years of experience developing Java RESTful web services.
• Knowledge and practical application of WCAG accessibility guidelines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Maven, GitHub, and Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with JUnit, Arquillian, or similar testing frameworks.
• Experience with Selenium automated testing.
• Experience with Apache JMeter or similar application load-testing tools.
• Familiarity with JIRA and CI/CD processes.
