Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Lead Java Backend Developer to join our cloud-focused team. The role emphasizes building scalable Java/Spring Boot services on AWS and Azure, with emphasis on secure, observable, and resilient architectures.

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in Kafka-driven event streaming, CI/CD, and TDD, plus a strong track record mentoring teams in Agile practices and DevOps.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in relevant software engineering roles.
• Proficiency in AWS services and Azure equivalents for compute, storage, networking, and security.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot development, RESTful API design.
• Experience with Kafka for streaming and event processing.
• CI/CD, TDD, containerization, and infrastructure as code.
• Secure coding with cloud security controls and resiliency engineering.
• Ability to work across large, complex environments and collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud-native applications on AWS and Azure across large-scale environments.
• Develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot with robust APIs and integrations.
• Build and operate event-driven systems leveraging Kafka for messaging and streaming.
• Establish CI/CD pipelines and apply TDD to improve reliability and speed of delivery.
• Champion resiliency, security, and observability patterns throughout the SDLC.
• Coach teams on Agile frameworks and modern engineering practices.
• Collaborate across firm-wide programs and contribute reusable patterns and tooling.
