Job summary

Talan Group is hiring a Senior Java Developer in New York City for a hands-on backend role within a leading financial institution. The team comprises 7 developers and covers Fixed Income, Trading and Risk applications. You will own project delivery and collaborate with business and tech stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of Java development and 5+ years in Spring/Spring Boot, plus strong API, SQL, and messaging experience. Visa sponsorship under TN and related treaties is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Computer science, Engineering, Finance or Quantitative finance.
• 8+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
• 5+ years of Spring / Spring Boot experience.
• Strong knowledge of Core Java, concurrency, collections and exception handling.
• Experience with REST APIs and distributed applications.
• Good SQL knowledge.
• Experience with Git, Maven and CI/CD.
• Messaging experience such as ActiveMQ, Kafka or similar.
• Strong communication skills and proactive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring and Spring Boot.
• Contribute across the full SDLC, including development, testing, code reviews and production releases
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with local and offshore teams.
• Take ownership of application delivery, stability and technical improvements.
• Perform system design, technical analysis and proof of concepts.
• Support application monitoring, upgrades and production issues.
• Mentor junior developers when needed.
