Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade Java/Spring Boot applications. You will build scalable microservices, RESTful APIs, and integrations across internal and external systems.

You will lead technical initiatives, optimize performance, mentor juniors, and collaborate in an Agile environment with architects, product owners, and DevOps teams. Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP and Docker/Kubernetes is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Java
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot
• Strong hands-on experience with microservices architecture
• Strong hands-on experience with RESTful API development
• Experience developing distributed, high-throughput, and highly available systems
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns
• Experience with application performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a nice-to-have
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is a nice-to-have
• Experience with Kafka/RabbitMQ or similar is a nice-to-have
• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices is a nice-to-have
• Experience in financial services, banking, or regulated industries is a nice-to-have
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering best practices is a nice-to-have
• Hands-on Agile/Scrum experience is a nice-to-have

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Build and support scalable, secure, and resilient microservices architectures
• Design and develop RESTful APIs and service integrations for internal and external applications
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and engineering teams on technical solutions
• Lead technical design and implementation of complex software initiatives
• Drive coding best practices, design standards, and code reviews
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and operational stability
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while implementing long-term solutions
• Participate in Agile/Scrum processes and ceremonies
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to the team’s growth
• Support DevOps and CI/CD processes for software delivery
• Provide detailed technical design and development of software solutions
• Propose and design solutions for complex business needs
• Write, test, and deploy software
• Prepare technical and procedural documentation
• Maintain and debug software
