Technologent, Inc. is seeking a Java Engineer to join our engineering team in Phoenix, AZ. The role focuses on building Java-based services, RESTful APIs, and Cassandra integration, applying modern software practices throughout the lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on Java experience with Spring Boot and Vert.x, and can design robust backend solutions for enterprise environments. This 12+ month contract position is 100% onsite in Phoenix, with relocation not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/IT or related field.
• 6+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong Java, Spring Boot, and Vert.x expertise.
• Experience with Cassandra including query development and integration.
• Proven ability to design scalable RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Good knowledge of clean coding, design patterns, testing, debugging, and peer reviews.
• Ability to build maintainable and scalable enterprise software.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java backend services.
• Build scalable REST APIs to support business requirements.
• Develop solutions using Java frameworks such as Spring Boot and Vert.x.
• Design Cassandra database solutions and integrate with applications.
• Analyze requirements and translate to technical solutions.
• Apply design patterns and engineering best practices for maintainability.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and improve performance of backend services.
• Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure quality and stability.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain development standards.
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders across the software lifecycle.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve coding efficiency and quality.
