Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Team Caliber to build and maintain the NBA platform's business rules engine, governing eligibility, suppression, frequency capping, and consent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Experience building backend services and REST APIs in production.
• Ability to design and reason about complex business logic.
• Experience with event-driven patterns and Kafka.
• Cloud exposure (Azure or equivalent) with containers/Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Strong testing discipline and clear communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Rules engine development — design, build, and maintain business rules with Java and Drools.
• Backend services — develop Java/Spring services and REST APIs.
• Event integration — produce/consume Kafka events to connect the rules engine.
• Testing — write thorough tests for rule logic and services.
• Performance — keep rule evaluation fast as rules and traffic grow.
• Quality — participate in code reviews and ship production-ready code in PHI environments.
• Collaboration — work with Product and Compliance to translate requirements into rules.
