Job summary

Bitpanda is seeking a Senior Engineer to own, design, and scale back-end systems powering our financial ecosystem. You’ll build low-latency, event-driven services and collaborate across Product, Risk, Compliance, and Finance to enable safe growth across Europe and beyond.

You will lead by example, mentoring junior engineers, driving architectural excellence, and adopting modern backend practices to stay at the cutting edge of our platform.

Qualifications

• Experience with Java-based backend systems and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Proven ability to design, build and maintain REST APIs at scale.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable, resilient backend services in Java.
• Ensure high quality with unit/integration testing before deployment.
• Optimize core modules for reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Drive technical innovation and evaluate new backend technologies.
• Mentor junior/mid-level developers with architectural guidance and code reviews.
