Job summary

Cognizant in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to design and build scalable cloud-based backend services using Java, Spring, and related technologies.

You will collaborate with product managers, tech leads, and developers to translate business requirements into reliable solutions, participate in CI/CD, testing, and observability, and guide technical design and documentation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software development experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Data JPA.
• Hands-on experience developing scalable backend applications in a cloud environment.
• Strong experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging/queueing technology.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and modern deployment practices.
• Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable backend applications and analytics solutions using Java, Spring, and cloud technologies.
• Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions and lead technical discussions with product managers and engineers.
• Build high-quality features by following coding standards, unit testing, and achieving code-coverage targets.
• Support the full software delivery lifecycle, including testing, CI/CD deployment, production release, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain technical designs and service specifications, guiding developers on documentation standards.
