Job summary

Fanatics is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain scalable Java backend services powering the account lifecycle. You will own features end-to-end, tackle complex integrations, and collaborate with product, compliance, and ops partners in a remote U.S. setting.

The role emphasizes building compliant, highly available services with observability and strong testing practices. This is a hands-on, on-call eligible position.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java.
• Experienced with production Java backend services using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
• Experience developing REST APIs and integrating distributed systems and data flows.
• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka or similar).
• Experience working in AWS or other cloud environments.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL data stores (Postgres, MongoDB).
• Experience with identity and account systems, KYC, fraud, or payments is a plus.
• Observability tooling (e.g., Datadog) and on-call support are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Java backend services using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
• Deliver features across registration, KYC, login and MFA, device registration, account management, tax reporting, and identity integration.
• Build integrations with third-party identity, verification, geolocation, and compliance providers.
• Write scalable, well-tested services with strong unit and integration test coverage.
• Contribute to architecture and design discussions for APIs, event-driven systems, and data flows.
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in weekly on-call rotation and runbooks.
• Mentor junior to mid-level engineers through code reviews and design feedback.
