Fanatics Betting & Gaming is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain scalable Java services behind the account lifecycle. You will own features end to end, tackle integration challenges, and collaborate with product, compliance, and operations teams.

The role is US-based remote, offering opportunities to work on regulatory-driven software, geolocation, identity, and payment related flows at scale. 5+ years of Java backend experience and strong Spring Boot skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering with Java.
• Experience with Spring Boot and REST APIs.
• Experience with Kafka and AWS.
• Familiarity with identity, KYC, or payments is a plus.
• Understanding of regulatory data handling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Java backend services using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
• Deliver features across registration, KYC, login and MFA, device registration, account management, tax reporting, Fanatics ID integration, and watchlist monitoring.
• Build and maintain services that enforce regulatory and responsible gaming requirements, including geolocation, state and self-exclusion, prohibited persons, loss limits, and eligibility.
• Build integrations with third‑party identity, verification, geolocation, and compliance providers, designing for failure, retries, and data integrity.
• Write scalable, well‑tested services with strong unit and integration test coverage.
• Contribute to architecture and design discussions for APIs, event‑driven systems, and data flows.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and take part in the weekly on‑call rotation, contributing to runbooks and post‑mortems.
• Partner with Product, Technical Program Management, Compliance, Support, and client engineering to turn business and regulatory requirements into technical solutions, and take part in sprint planning and agile delivery.
• Mentor junior to mid‑level engineering teammates through code reviews, design feedback, and pairing.
• Follow engineering best practices (CI/CD, testing, observability, feature flagging, documentation) and improve reliability and maintainability by addressing technical debt.
