Job summary

Omega Hires is seeking a Senior Developer to lead migration of Java/J2EE applications to AWS, modernizing and re-architecting for cloud-native scalability. The role is hybrid, with three days on-site in Rockville, MD.

You will design migration patterns, rewrite code for AWS integration, containerize with Docker/Kubernetes, and implement IaC and CI/CD to accelerate delivery. Strong collaboration and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience migrating applications to AWS.
• Experience migrating from on-premises to AWS using appropriate tools.
• Strong Java programming with J2EE (Spring, Hibernate, JSF).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes; IaC tools CloudFormation or Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Lead migration execution and develop migration plans for cloud migration.
• Collaborate with leads and developers to design migration patterns and reusable components.
• Rewrite or optimize Java code to integrate with AWS services.
• Containerize apps and deploy using AWS services; implement CI/CD pipelines.
• Follow cloud guidelines and cost-conscious architectural patterns.
• Collaborate with SCRUM teams and stakeholders; report progress toward milestones.
