Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a seasoned Senior Java Developer/AI Engineer to design and optimize mission critical applications and data platforms in Chicago. You will own backend services with Java/Spring, integrate AI platforms for cybersecurity, and mentor engineers across teams.

The role emphasizes performance, reliability, security, and scalable data solutions with hands-on leadership and collaboration with Product, Data, and Platform teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years software development experience with 5+ years Java backend focus.
• Expert SQL/RDBMS experience with Oracle; schema design and optimization.
• Hands-on graph DB experience and modeling; Cypher/Gremlin queries.
• Strong Java 11+, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA/Hibernate, JDBC.
• Proven performance tuning in SQL and JVM; concurrency and transactions.
• Experience enabling LLMs to query cybersecurity data with secure context.
• CI/CD, Git, Docker/Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
• Data security, encryption, auditing, and access control.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain backend services using Java/Spring and REST APIs.
• Design robust data access patterns with JDBC, JPA/Hibernate; optimize queries.
• Design and optimize Oracle schemas; build ETL/ELT processes and data quality.
• Integrate with Graph DBs (TigerGraph/Neo4j/etc.) and model graph data.
• Design AI-enabled data outputs and integrate with LLMs for cybersecurity tasks.
• Profile and tune Java services; ensure latency and throughput SLAs; DR planning.
• Implement security controls, encryption, auditing, and least-privilege access.
• Lead code reviews, establish best practices, mentor engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally.
