Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking a skilled Java Developer to join a multidisciplinary delivery team building MineStar software.

You will design, develop and maintain Java‑based applications, microservices and APIs, while guiding AI‑enabled delivery workflows and ensuring security and quality. You will mentor engineers, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with Product, Engineering and Quality teams to deliver end-to-end features.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience with hands-on Java
• Experience with Spring and Spring Boot in large-scale projects
• Hands-on experience with microservices and distributed architectures
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration patterns
• Proficiency in modern database design and security principles

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Java-based applications, microservices and APIs.
• Produce clean, well-tested, maintainable code with quality, security and testing built in.
• Lead delivery of features using AI tooling and agentic workflows.
• Orchestrate AI capabilities across requirements, design and delivery steps.
• Validate AI-generated outputs against requirements and standards.
• Work with the scrum team to deliver features end-to-end and ensure production readiness.
• Contribute to solution architecture and design decisions for complex problems.
• Establish quality gates for AI-assisted development and governance.
• Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
