Job summary

OCTA’s Planning Division is seeking a Transportation Analyst or Senior Transportation Analyst to support traffic signal operations, ITS projects, and Transit Signal Priority across Orange County. The role involves coordinating OC Streetcar signals with local jurisdictions and evaluating system performance.

Ideal candidates will have a transportation-related degree and strong analytical, reporting, and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate transportation and operational data.
• Ability to develop technical reports, performance measures, analyses, and recommendations.
• Strong project coordination and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support and manage traffic signal operations and ITS projects, including Transit Signal Priority and advanced signal technologies.
• Assist with planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of traffic signal and ITS improvements and their integration with transit operations.
• Support OC Streetcar traffic signal and TSP coordination with local jurisdictions and project partners.
• Analyze traffic signal, transit, and transportation data to identify needs, evaluate performance, and recommend improvements.
• Develop technical analyses, performance measures, reports, and recommendations to evaluate operations and technology investments.
• Identify and advance opportunities to expand Transit Signal Priority and other advanced signal applications.
• Investigate and help resolve signal operations, system performance, and technology integration issues.
• Coordinate with cities, Caltrans, regional agencies, transit operators, consultants, and technology providers on initiatives.
• Represent OCTA on technical committees, working groups, and public meetings.
• Build consensus among stakeholders regarding needs, requirements, and performance expectations.
