Job summary

National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, MD is seeking an IT Vulnerability Management Lead / Senior Security Analyst to safeguard NIH IT infrastructure. The role partners with the ISSO to manage vulnerability lifecycles using Tenable and Nessus across on‑prem and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in IT security with at least 3 years in vulnerability management, strong risk assessment skills, and experience with FISMA/FedRAMP compliance.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of IT security vulnerabilities and risk assessments.
• Strong knowledge of vulnerability management lifecycle and CVSS models in federal workspace.
• Familiarity with securing cloud platforms (AWS and GCP) in hybrid environments.
• Understanding of Windows, Linux/Unix, and network devices security hardening.
• Ability to work with program staff, executives, and vendors to achieve IT security goals.
• Direct and manage VM platforms (Tenable/Nessus) for asset discovery and reporting.
• 5–7 years in IT security with at least 3 years in vulnerability management.
• CISSP or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead the vulnerability management lifecycle across on‑prem and cloud scanners (Tenable/Nessus).
• Analyze, prioritize, and track remediation with IT operations and system owners.
• Maintain scan schedules, asset groups, dashboards, and reports for the agency infrastructure.
• Define scanner and security center architecture, tune configurations to minimize false positives.
• Develop and maintain documentation for system setup and remediation tracking.
• Support security projects requiring compliance with gov policies or standards.
• Be the SME for vulnerability management tools and NIH mandates.
• Ensure systems comply with FISMA and FedRAMP SA&A processes.
• Coordinate NIH IT security policies and incident response activities.
