Job summary

M1 Finance in Chicago is seeking a senior IT systems engineer to operate, secure, and continuously improve the IT environment our employees rely on daily, including identity and access, endpoint management, and office infrastructure.

You will own the engineering behind workforce enablement, manage SaaS platforms, endpoints, onboarding/offboarding, and ensure controls are auditable for regulatory obligations while collaborating with Compliance and Engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in IT systems engineering or administration, with ownership of major parts of an environment.
• Evidence you can go deep: a system you owned end to end and improved, with clear impact and validation.
• Comfortable with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and REST APIs, plus config-as-code with source control and tests.
• Depth in Okta, SSO, MFA, and identity lifecycle; macOS and Jamf; Microsoft 365; SaaS administration and integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead identity and access engineering in Okta: SSO, MFA, provisioning/deprovisioning, groups, and access policies.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, and reporting; integrate tools to reduce repetitive work, maintain runbooks and docs.
• Own the security of the IT environment: vulnerability and patch management, endpoint hardening, and incident response.
• Manage workforce enablement: SaaS platforms, endpoints (macOS/Windows), and onboarding/offboarding automation.
• Maintain control environment: access reviews, configuration standards, asset inventory, and auditing evidence.
• Serve as escalation path for employee IT support and Chicago office: fix root causes and maintain office network, AV, badge access.
