Job summary

Alliance Healthcare Services in Memphis, TN, seeks a Systems Engineer to keep a hybrid Windows server environment running securely and recoverable. You will own servers, virtualization, endpoint management, security tooling, and network layers, serving as escalation from Level 1 support for clinical care and billing systems.

The role requires a Bachelor's in IT/CS or equivalent, 5+ years in Windows Server/AD, and hands-on Hyper‑V, M365, Intune, and Defender expertise.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years administering Windows Server and Active Directory in a production environment.
• Hands-on experience with Hyper‑V or another enterprise hypervisor (VMware transfers),
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Intune, endpoint security tools (Defender), and scripting in PowerShell.
• Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VPNs, wireless).
• Experience in healthcare or regulated environments, including HIPAA familiarity (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server and Hyper‑V hosts, clusters, and VMs, including capacity planning, patching, and performance tuning.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services.
• Maintain hybrid identity between on‑premises AD and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Plan migrations and upgrades, including workload moves to Azure where appropriate.
• Administer Microsoft 365 services and licensing.
• Manage devices via Intune: enrollment, compliance, configuration policies, app deployment, Windows Update rings.
• Build and maintain standard images and provisioning (Autopilot).
• Configure and monitor Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Office 365; respond to alerts.
• Manage Conditional Access, MFA, and least‑privilege access.
• Apply HIPAA Security Rule safeguards and assist with Security Risk Assessments.
• Keep servers, endpoints, and network devices patched against vulnerabilities.
• Administer UniFi network, VPNs, firewall rules, VLANs, and site‑to‑site VPNs.
• Run backups for servers, VMs, and Microsoft 365 data; test restores.
• Document configurations, procedures, and diagrams; support integrations with EHR and vendors.
• Participate in IT projects and budget planning; coach Level 1 technicians.
