Job summary

The University of Louisville is seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer V (Cybersecurity Engineer) to design, implement, and maintain enterprise cybersecurity systems and infrastructure. You will serve as a senior resource for security engineering, protecting university assets, networks, cloud environments, and research systems against evolving threats.

This role requires advanced proficiency in enterprise security engineering with a collaborative approach.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and eight (8) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master's degree in a related field preferred.
CISSP or another information security certification preferred.
Experience with enterprise security engineering in higher education or research environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

Plan, implement, and maintain technical security measures across university infrastructure.
Configure, operate, and maintain enterprise security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, DLP).
Monitor, identify, and mitigate security risks; lead incident response activities.
Engineer and manage IAM services including SSO, MFA, and privileged access.
Develop security automation and orchestration to improve detection and response.
Design security architectures including zero trust, cloud security posture, and PKI.
Conduct security architecture reviews for new systems and cloud environments.
Support regulatory compliance (HIPAA/ePHI, FERPA, PCI-DSS, CMMC, NIST 800-171).
Collaborate with multiple teams to deploy secure services and maintain runbooks.
Develop and maintain security architecture diagrams and documentation.
Mentor colleagues and stay updated on threat landscape.
