Job summary

The University of Louisville is seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer V (Cybersecurity Engineer) to design, implement, and maintain enterprise cybersecurity systems and infrastructure. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 8 years experience.
• Experience in higher education security environments is a plus.
• CISSP or related certification preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and maintain security measures across university infrastructure.
• Configure and maintain firewalls, SIEM, EDR, and DLP.
• Lead security investigations and incident response.
• Manage IAM services including SSO, MFA, and privileged access.
• Develop security automation and architecture diagrams.
• Support compliance with HIPAA/ePHI, FERPA, PCI-DSS, NIST 800-171.
• Collaborate with security teams to deploy secure services.
• Mentor colleagues on security projects.
• Stay updated on evolving threats in higher education.
