Senior IT Specialist – GIS & Test Engineering

Contract Length: 1 year

Introduction

We are seeking a Senior IT Specialist – GIS & Test Engineering to join our growing utility systems team. This role is ideal for a seasoned GIS professional with deep expertise in ESRI ArcGIS, Schneider Electric ArcFM, and LoadRunner-based performance testing. With a strong focus on system stability and performance optimization, you will help ensure the seamless operation of GIS platforms that are critical to electric and gas utility functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design, maintenance, and optimization of ArcMap, ArcFM, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Pro platforms.
• Develop and execute performance test scripts using LoadRunner in Citrix environments.
• Collaborate with developers, DBAs, and infrastructure engineers to enhance GIS application reliability.
• Perform performance tuning at the application, database, and server levels.
• Troubleshoot GIS issues affecting end-user experience.
• Engineer custom GIS tools and solutions to support utility workflows.
• Analyze metrics and logs to derive actionable performance insights.
• Manage upgrades, patches, and enhancements to GIS platforms.
• Mentor junior staff and promote best practices in GIS testing and monitoring.
• Document methodologies, outage recovery procedures, and support workflows.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in GIS system engineering, ideally within utility sectors.
• Mastery of ArcFM, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcMap, and ArcGIS Pro.
• Proficient with LoadRunner or similar tools for performance testing.
• Skilled in performance tuning for GIS applications and databases ( SQL Server, Oracle).
• Proven ability to simulate user behavior and engineer performance enhancements.
• Experience with scripting in Python (ArcPy) for automation and testing.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Background in Agile development environments.

• A/B testing and stress testing methodologies.
• Experience with Oracle and MySQL administration.
• Familiarity with Analysis for Office.
