If you’re ready to do the most ambitious work of your career, join us.

Attributes We Value

We hire successful builders with founder‑like energy who want real impact, accelerated learning, and true ownership. You bring strong role‑related expertise and sharp thinking, and you’re motivated by our mission and operating principles. You move fast with good judgment, dig deep with curiosity, and make decisions from first principles, balancing speed and rigor.

You’re humble and collaborative; turn zero‑to‑one ideas into real products, and you “get stuff done” end‑to‑end. You use AI to work smarter and solve problems faster. Here, you’ll tackle complex, high‑visibility problems with exceptional teammates and grow your career as we build the future of global banking. If that sounds like you, let’s build what’s next.

About the team

Corporate IT builds and runs the technology Airwallex runs on — laptops, identity, collaboration, automation, AI. We partner with every team in the company, from Finance to Engineering, to solve hard problems and build new solutions. We remove friction from technology, provide world‑class support, and drive outcomes that help Airwallex move faster and go further.

What you’ll do

As an IT Engineer, you’ll work in our IT Engineering function, owning our collaboration tool stack. You’ll be the primary owner of our Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, and our collaboration surfaces our Airwallex uses to connect with our customers and work together every day. This is a technical, hands‑on role, using code, integrations, clickops, command line, terminals and more. You’ll be an expert and own much of our Google Workspace operations, ensuring we build and manage a complex footprint across Google products and bring them all together with Identity engineering. You’ll need to be intensely curious, and relentless about solving hard problems. You’ll build integrations and workflows that solve our problems. You’ll work closely with INFOSEC, Revenue Operations and other IT teams across the world, ensuring we build secure and scalable solutions across the many regions where we operate. You’ll also drive onboarding and enablement of AI products and features in and around these products, experimenting, trialing and finally leveraging these tools to work faster, and drive your own results farther.

This role will focus and own our Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, and collaboration platforms we use at Airwallex, and will work on other projects.

This role is based in San Francisco, Sydney, or Melbourne.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, optimize Slack integrations, workflows, apps and services – you will be the primary owner and SME on Slack for Airwallex

  • Design, develop, optimise Google Workspace and Zoom, connecting those services and platforms, using APIs and technical tools and code

  • Develop custom scripts or use low/no‑code or third‑party solutions to move and manage data between collaboration platforms (Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, JIRA, etc.)

  • Build bots, workflows, automations that connect with these tools, and leveraging AI models to enhance performance

  • Regularly assess and ensure our collaboration tools work how we need them to – ensuring secure and scalable growth

  • Manage through ambiguity, able to take vague problems and build solutions with strong intuition on the right path forward

  • Run complex migrations and integrations from mergers and acquisitions, helping to bring in new teams to Airwallex

  • Collaborate extensively across the business, with key teams in Finance, Legal, Operations, Support, Sales etc. to solve their problems, and help them use these products to move faster and support our growth

  • Write and build custom solutions where products fall short – solve Airwallex problems either by building or buying

  • Serve on the IT Engineering team, helping with escalations from Support and leveraging your all‑round knowledge to solve other problems as needed

  • Drive key AI outcomes, evaluating, deploying, enabling teams to use AI technology across our business, and within our core products we support

Who you are
  • 5+ years in a corporate platform or collaboration services engineer role, using cloud‑first/SaaS based collaboration solutions

  • 5+ years with demonstrable experience as the “primary owner” of a core product – Slack or Google Workspace, able to speak to technical detail

  • Extremely strong written and verbal communication, able to convey an idea or solution to technical and non‑technical audiences in chat, documents or zoom

  • Demonstrated experience with data migration, automation scripts, custom build integrations, bots and workflows

  • Clear and demonstrated understanding of common AI models and tools, able to speak to examples of deployment and daily use of these tools, with a strong ability to learn new concepts and technology quickly and self‑directed

  • Hands‑on coding experience with automation tools and APIs; experience with JSON, REST APIs, Python or similar technologies.

  • Experience with low‑code/no‑code tools (i.e. Workato, Tray, Mulesoft) a plus, but not required

  • Demonstrated experience building/administering integrations with common tech startup platforms: Atlassian, Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.

  • Knowledge and understanding of cloud platforms and deploying code or services to them (Google Cloud, AWS) and key services within (Cloud Function, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge and experience in IT Operations, understanding how global teams work and how IT support functions, escalations happen, and how to solve problems

  • Comfortable working in a global org, with in‑person and remote collaboration across multiple time zones

  • Able to participate in on‑call rotations, and serve as an SME for primary tools or solutions they built (“build it, own it” mentality)
