Job summary

AttainX, Inc. seeks an experienced IT Engineer IV to support NOAA’s National Weather Service in Silver Spring, MD. The role focuses on enterprise architecture, systems planning, data flow modeling, and security planning, with collaboration across government stakeholders and developers.

You will work on optimizing on-premises and cloud systems, including AWS and Azure, ensuring secure, scalable solutions that align with mission objectives and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• BS/BA engineering degree or equivalent with 10+ years in the field.
• 8–10 years of direct experience in software engineering, systems optimization, or related technical programming.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or equivalent certification must remain valid.
• Experience defining and executing systems engineering processes (requirements analysis, planning, lifecycle assessment).
• Experience developing system architectures, data flow diagrams, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute systems engineering processes for assigned NWS portfolios.
• Document and maintain current architectures, data flows, dependencies, and service workflows.
• Develop target architecture views and evaluate new technologies and cloud options.
• Perform systems planning, performance analysis, and capacity planning for reliable operations.
• Identify integration gaps, bottlenecks, and architectural inconsistencies.
• Document risks and support risk registry, mitigation recommendations, and reporting.
• Create engineering process documentation and architecture assessments.
• Prepare and execute test plans, integration assessments, and deployment readiness reviews.
• Incorporate security requirements throughout the lifecycle and support vulnerability remediation.
