Job summary

Nightwing seeks an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support a customer in the Dulles, Virginia area, collaborating with developers and engineers on secure government information systems.

The role requires TS/SCI with Polygraph on Day 1, 8+ years in federal cybersecurity, and strong RMF/NIST knowledge. Responsibilities include A&A, security controls, and accreditation sustainment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in federal cybersecurity or government IT environments.
• Strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-3, SP 800-37 RMF, and security compliance processes.
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation for audits and accreditation.
• Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and A&A processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare A&A documents and procedures.
• Collaborate with program ISSE and government security reps.
• Support IA program requirements per DCID, ICD 503, and NIST.
• Design, develop, implement, and sustain secure government systems.
• Work with system owners and security teams to protect mission-critical systems.
• Engineer, implement, and maintain security controls per RMF.
• Develop system security documentation like SSPs and POA&Ms.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to strengthen security posture.
• Monitor security systems, analyze logs, and respond to incidents.
