Job summary

intent is seeking a backend engineer to own the technical direction of IoT projects. You will shape architecture, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure in a fully remote setting with real client engagements.

Leadership in technical trade-offs and hands-on delivery are core expectations. The role emphasizes owning the end-to-end backend, collaborating with firmware, mobile teams, QA, and PMs, and using AI tools as part of daily work.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend development with leadership experience.
• Strong Node.js production experience at scale.
• Deep AWS expertise: EKS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Timestream, S3.
• Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform in real infra.
• Experience with MQTT or similar IoT messaging protocols.
• CI/CD pipelines you designed (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Ability to translate business needs into technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the backend architecture for IoT projects.
• Make technical trade-off calls and defend them clearly.
• Design and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure (EKS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Timestream, S3).
• Lead architecture discussions, RFCs, reviews, and post-mortems.
• Mentor backend engineers and raise code quality.
• Collaborate with firmware, mobile, QA, PMs, and clients.
• Leverage AI tools daily in workflow.
• Challenge product/tech assumptions when needed.
