Job summary

American Outdoor Brands is seeking a Senior Application Developer to own architecture, development, release, and ongoing support of mobile apps for its products. You will typically specialize in Android or iOS, with secondary platform exposure beneficial but not required.

You will lead complex development efforts, mentor developers, and collaborate with Product Development, Design, Marketing, Ecommerce, and IT to deliver robust mobile experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, software engineering, or equivalent discipline.
• 5–8 years of relevant professional software development experience.
• Significant mobile development experience in Android or iOS.
• Proven experience delivering complex production applications or major features.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, release, and maintain production mobile apps for Android or iOS.
• Serve as technical expert for the assigned mobile platform.
• Lead complex features from definition through production release.
• Develop scalable, maintainable app architectures.
• Translate product needs into technical requirements and plans.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineers and Product Engineers on connected products.
• Lead integration with APIs, cloud services, BLE devices, databases, and third parties.
• Establish platform-specific development best practices.
• Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance.
• Mentor junior developers and interns.
• Identify risks, debt, and improvement opportunities.
• Develop estimates and contribute to planning.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
