Job summary

State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) is seeking a Senior Business Systems Engineer to lead the business systems architecture for front- and middle-office investments. You will design solutions, guide testing, and partner across Investment Management, Operations and Technology to deliver scalable, supportable systems.

You’ll work with ABOR/IBOR platforms, modern tech, and agile teams to translate business needs into practical technology outputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in information systems, computer science, or finance.
• 5+ years of investment management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of ABOR/IBOR applications (SimCorp Dimension preferred).
• Strong knowledge of investment industry operations, processes and technologies.
• Ability to influence outcomes and work cross-functionally.
• Experience with Agile methodology.
• Ability to document and communicate technical knowledge clearly.
• Ability to envision and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex tech in layman’s terms.
• Familiarity with common investment practices and securities.
• Ability to design technology solutions to meet business needs.
• Proven ability to develop solutions using Python, R, SQL.

Responsibilities

• Research and implement new solutions with Technology Owners and Operations.
• Analyze needs across Investment Management, Operations and Technology.
• Serve as architect/designer for investment management applications and systems.
• Identify gaps and risks in SWIB’s systems architecture and projects.
• Recommend approaches to address gaps and risks to management.
• Lead architecture and design of solutions, including code where applicable.
• Implement testing strategies and document defects for future maintenance.
• Keep up-to-date with investment technology trends and vendor offerings.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into designs.
