Job summary

South Carolina Research Authority Inc. seeks a Senior Investment Diligence Manager to lead evaluation and due diligence for SC Launch investments, guiding structures, capitalization, and governance aligned with SCL Inc. objectives.

You will coordinate with executives, portfolio companies, and investors, driving funding strategies, reporting, and capital connections while mentoring teams and representing the organization across South Carolina’s innovation ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, technology, science, or related discipline with seven or more years of experience in venture capital, private equity, or closely related field.
• Experience with institutional investment firms, corporate venture groups, family offices, or other professionally managed investment organizations.
• Experience evaluating seed- and early-stage technology companies and leading investment activities including sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, financial analysis, valuation, and structuring.
• Experience presenting investment memoranda, valuations, portfolio reviews, and recommendations to senior leaders and boards.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with investors, founders, and ecosystem partners to support capital formation and fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Lead evaluation and due diligence of prospective investment candidates, assessing management teams, markets, technology, business models, capitalization, and risks.
• Develop investment recommendations and advise on transaction structure, including valuation and financing terms.
• Coordinate with executive leadership and internal stakeholders to identify candidates and apply consistent investment policies and procedures.
• Manage investor relations and capital connectivity, fostering relationships with venture capital, private equity, corporate investors, and family offices.
• Advise on capitalization plans, governance, and terms suitable for the company’s stage and risk profile.
• Monitor portfolio performance, analytics, and reporting; support valuations and fund-level reporting.
