Job summary

George Washington University seeks a Police Sergeant in the Investigations Unit within the Division of Safety and Operations. The role oversees the Detective Branch, directing investigations, threat assessment activities, and related services.

Responsibilities include scheduling, assigning, evaluating staff, and ensuring accurate reporting on incidents and arrests. The position requires substantial supervisory experience in police work, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a DC

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma/GED with 5 years of police experience or a Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience.
• Must obtain DC SPO license through SOMB within 120 days of employment.
• POS T certification with 700 training hours or equivalent.
• Must possess valid driver's license and eligibility to drive GW vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Detective Branch and Investigations Unit during assigned shifts, directing staff and allocating tasks.
• Manage scheduling, assignments, evaluations and distribution of responsibilities.
• Lead investigations, threat assessments and related services, including court-ready reporting.
• Provide coaching, training and performance feedback to staff; participate in hiring decisions.
• Ensure all incident reports and arrest activities are properly documented and compliant with policies.
