Job summary

The Office of Police Complaints (OPC) is an independent District of Columbia agency that receives, investigates, and resolves police misconduct complaints filed by the public against Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and D.C. Housing Authority Police Department (DCHAPD) officers.

The position provides substantive investigation and management support associated with the day-to-day operation of OPC's investigative unit.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of investigative principles, techniques, and procedures sufficient to conduct and supervise investigations of varying complexity.
• Demonstrated experience in providing leadership in a supervisory capacity.
• Ability to develop and implement internal management controls for monitoring investigative activities.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support to the Chief Investigator to facilitate planning and directing OPC activities.
• Supervises assigned staff, sets priorities, organizes schedules, and conducts regular meetings to review performance.
• Identifies training needs and arranges training for staff development.
• Assists in setting priorities to ensure timely completion of investigations and related tasks.
• Reviews and proposes changes to OPC investigative policies and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Communicates effectively with colleagues, the public, and District employees to gather information and develop leads.
