City of Chicago’s Chicago Fire Department seeks a Supervising Investigator in the Internal Affairs Division to lead investigations into criminal activity, official misconduct, and residency violations by City employees, including large-scale and complex cases.

The role oversees staff, assigns cases, reviews reports, coordinates inter-departmental efforts, and testifies in court and hearings. Starting salary is $85,548 with a Monday–Friday schedule; additional vacancies possible.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of investigations of criminal or fraudulent activity or seven (7) years of fact-finding analyses and investigative reporting.
• Associate's degree in Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Human Resources or related plus five (5) years of investigations or fact-finding.
• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Human Resources or related plus three (3) years of investigations or fact-finding.
• Master's degree or higher in Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Human Resources or related plus two (2) years of investigations or fact-finding.

Responsibilities

• Reviews complaints and assigns cases to investigative staff.
• Monitors cases to ensure investigations are timely and compliant with procedures.
• Reviews investigative reports for completeness and findings.
