Job summary

American Institutes for Research (AIR) is seeking a part-time Senior Researcher to support our International Development program. The role leads research, evaluation, and implementation projects to improve outcomes in low- and middle-income countries, collaborating with clients, funders, and AIR colleagues.

You will design and manage studies, supervise multidisciplinary teams, develop proposals, and translate findings into actionable insights for policy and practice. Remote work within the U.S.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with substantial relevant experience in applied research/evaluation.
• Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
• Strong ability to lead teams and manage client relationships.
• Experience with grants or proposal writing and business development.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day project operations across research, evaluation, and implementation projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate timelines, staff assignments, and deliverables.
• Design studies and analytic plans to address key policy questions.
• Lead data collection and analysis using appropriate methods and tools.
• Develop proposals for federal, state, foundation, and other clients.
• Translate research findings into actionable insights for decision makers.
• Maintain client and stakeholder relationships and represent AIR professionally.
