Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking an experienced DevOps/Cloud Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud capabilities across AWS and GCP. You will enable reliable, secure, and scalable delivery by developing Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-Code foundations, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and driving automation, observability, and best practices across engineering teams.

Core focus on Backstage-based developer experience, Terraform, Crossplane, and modern CI/CD tooling;

Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing, and managing an internal developer portal (preferably Backstage.io).
• Strong ability to create self-service tools and streamline developer workflows.
• Experience with Backstage plugins, Scaffolder, and Catalog for unified service views.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate cloud platform and DevOps capabilities across AWS and GCP.
• Develop Kubernetes and IaC foundations; maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Enhance observability and reliability with SRE practices and monitoring tooling.
