Job summary
American Family Insurance is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud platform and DevOps capabilities across AWS and GCP. You will enable reliable delivery by developing Kubernetes and IaC foundations, building CI/CD pipelines, and driving automation, observability, and best practices across engineering teams.
This flex office/home role requires at least 10 days/month at Madison, WI or other office locations; candidates must reside within a 50‑mile radius of
Qualifications
- Experience designing, implementing and operating a developer portal and Backstage plugins.
- Strong DevX mindset with self-service tooling and standardized templates.
- Cloud platform experience (AWS and/or GCP) with Kubernetes and IaC.
- Proficient in CI/CD, security, observability, and incident response.
- Proficient in Python/TypeScript/JavaScript and API design.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate cloud platform and DevOps capabilities across AWS and GCP.
- Develop Backstage-based developer experience and internal catalog.
- Automate provisioning with Terraform and Crossplane API abstractions.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines and artifact management with Artifactory.
- Drive observability with Datadog and SRE practices.
