Job summary

UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement, based in Evanston, IL, seek a Senior Internal Communications Specialist to support internal communications across the two groups. You will develop strategies that connect, inform, and engage employees while reinforcing organizational culture.

You will partner with leadership and HR to craft clear messages, manage content for intranet, newsletters, town halls, and collaboration tools, and translate complex topics into accessible communications

Qualifications

• University degree in communication, public relations, education, marketing or related field.
• Minimum six years of related professional experience in communications and marketing.
• Experience in a nonprofit, scientific or research organization is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute internal communication strategies, campaigns, and initiatives across ULRI and ULSE.
• Create content for employee-facing channels including intranet, newsletters, internal announcements, town halls, and collaboration platforms.
• Partner with leadership to craft messaging that informs, engages, and aligns with organizational priorities.
• Translate complex information into clear communications for employee-wide audiences.
• Support change management and organizational initiatives with communication plans that drive clarity and adoption.
• Monitor communication effectiveness, gather employee feedback, and implement improvements.
