Job summary

UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) in Evanston, IL, seeks a Senior Internal Communications Specialist to develop and execute internal comms strategies that connect, inform, and engage employees across ULRI and ULSE.

You will partner with leadership and HR to deliver transparent messaging, translate complex information for broad audiences, and strengthen organizational culture through effective communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.
• Minimum six years of professional communications experience.
• Experience in nonprofit, scientific, or research organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute internal communication strategies and campaigns for ULRI and ULSE.
• Create content for employee channels (intranet, newsletters, announcements, town halls).
• Partner with leadership to craft messaging that informs, engages, and aligns with priorities.
• Translate complex information into clear, accessible communications for employees.
• Support change management with communication plans that drive adoption and clarity.
• Monitor effectiveness, gather feedback, andRecommend improvements for engagement.
• Collaborate with HR and cross-functional teams to reflect tone, values, and brand standards.
