Job summary

UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement in Evanston, IL is seeking a Senior Internal Communications Specialist to develop and execute internal communication strategies that connect, inform, and engage employees across ULRI and ULSE.

You will partner with leadership, HR, and cross-functional teams to deliver clear, transparent messaging that strengthens organizational culture and alignment with priorities.

Qualifications

• University degree in communication, public relations, education, marketing or related field.
• Minimum six years of related professional experience in communications and marketing.
• Experience in a nonprofit, scientific or research organization is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute internal communication strategies, campaigns, and initiatives that promote organizational goals, programs, and culture across ULRI and ULSE.
• Create and manage content for employee-facing channels including intranet, newsletters, internal announcements, virtual town halls, and collaboration platforms.
• Partner with leadership to craft messaging that informs, engages, and aligns employees with priorities.
• Translate complex information into clear communications for employee-wide audiences.
• Support change management and organizational initiatives with communication plans that drive clarity and adoption.
• Monitor communication effectiveness and gather employee feedback to improve engagement.
