Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive internal or external audit experience, preferably in a public company, healthcare, medical products, or manufacturing.
  • Experience working on internal audit projects, SOX or ICFR activities, control assessments, process reviews, and remediation follow-up in a complex or global organization.
  • Knowledge of internal control frameworks, COSO, SOX or ICFR requirements, financial reporting processes, and business process controls.
  • Experience using data analytics tools or advanced Excel functionality to analyze populations, identify anomalies, select risk-based samples, or support audit conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess the significance of audit findings, identify root causes and business impact, and develop practical, risk-based recommendations in collaboration with management.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, manage assigned audit activities to established timelines, proactively communicate status and emerging issues, and identify potential delays or scope changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach less-experienced auditors, review audit work for quality, coordinate engagement resources, and influence senior stakeholders with differing perspectives.
  • CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, or similar professional certification required, or must be obtained within 18 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead complex, cross-functional and global risk-based financial, operational, and compliance internal audit engagements from risk assessment and scoping through reporting and remediation follow-up, with limited oversight.
  • Accountable for the quality, timeliness, risk coverage, stakeholder alignment, and successful completion of assigned audit engagements, including planning, scoping, fieldwork, issue development, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Independently determine audit procedures, testing methods, sampling approaches, and issue-assessment criteria for assigned engagements, incorporating professional judgment, data analytics, and emerging risks and escalating matters with significant enterprise or regulatory implications.
  • Lead assigned SOX and ICFR activities, including risk assessment, walkthroughs, control documentation, testing strategy, deficiency evaluation, remediation monitoring, and external audit coordination.
  • Develop and enhance audit methodologies, testing standards, templates, and risk-assessment approaches, and recommend changes to audit scope, testing strategy, or the audit plan based on emerging risks and business developments.
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource in one or more areas such as SOX/ICFR, operational auditing, IT controls, financial reporting processes, or data analytics.
  • Coach and provide technical guidance to auditors, guest auditors, and third-party resources; coordinate work during engagements; review workpapers and deliverables for quality and consistency; and provide performance input to the Audit Manager.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, walkthroughs, and process assessments to understand business objectives, identify key risks and controls, and evaluate control design and operating effectiveness.
  • Partner with Finance, IT, Legal, Compliance to strengthen controls, improve process effectiveness, and support timely remediation.
  • Prepare audit reports and issue summaries that communicate risk, root cause, business impact, and agreed management actions.
  • Track remediation progress, validate completed actions, and elevate significant, overdue, or recurring issues to Internal Audit leadership.
  • Use data analytics, automation, and technology-enabled testing to improve audit efficiency, coverage, and insight.
  • Maintain effective stakeholder relationships while preserving independence, objectivity, confidentiality, and appropriate challenge, and influence business leaders to accept audit conclusions, risk assessments, and remediation commitments where perspectives or priorities differ.
