Job summary

Expeditors in Chesapeake, VA invites motivated interns to join our logistics team. You’ll help move freight and information, track shipments, prepare documents, and communicate with domestic and international customers, learning Expeditors’ systems and standards.

The program emphasizes proactive, professional service, attention to detail and strong organization. Compensation is $19.00–$21.00 per hour with paid time off and benefits; sponsorship and relocation are not offered.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers
• Adherence to Operational Process Standards
• Daily tracking of shipments and corresponding documents
• Work with the team to provide solutions to customers
• Comply with customer requirements and procedures
• Proactively communicate timely status updates to customers
• Communicate with international and domestic customers and offices
• Update shipment information in the Expeditors system
• Track and trace international cargo
• Timely settlement of shipments and filing of Tariffs
• Preparation of reports, as required
• Prepare and process international documentation
• Comply with US and foreign regulations
• Interns will learn about the logistics industry, Expeditors culture, and our systems

Scope of Position:

Ensure the proper and timely movement of freight and information, while complying with internal and external requirements and providing exceptional customer service.

Major Duties and Responsibilities may include the following:

• Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers

• Adherence to Operational Process Standards

• Daily tracking of shipments and corresponding documents

• Work with the team to provide solutions to customers

• Comply with customer requirements and procedures
