Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Sr. Staff Technical Specialist to serve as a technical authority in Interior Engineering. You will lead complex problem solving, mentor Design Release Engineers, and drive architectural innovations from concept to volume production.

The role requires deep cross-functional collaboration, regulatory knowledge, and a commitment to Rivian Interiors through engineering excellence. Travel globally is expected.

Qualifications

• 15+ years delivering full-lifecycle automotive interiors from concept through high-volume production.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
• Demonstrated record applying first-principles engineering to high-stakes problems.
• Expertise in interior materials, manufacturing processes, and financial drivers.

Responsibilities

• Foster a culture of trust, continuous improvement, and innovation.
• Architect technical requirements and specifications decomposed from systems to components using first-principles foundations.
• Coach first-principles engineering with cross-functional teams to resolve complex challenges.
• Mentor Design Release Engineers to meet functional requirements across development stages.
• Drive D-FMEA development and cascade learnings to mitigate risk.
• Institutionalize Prevent Recurrence Actions within new designs to ensure product excellence.
• Guide Product Validation planning and sign off validation results.
• Develop digital validation methods to support engineering design freeze.
• Advance the Interior Technical Roadmap with breakthrough technologies.
• Execute system strategies that meet mass and financial targets.
