Job description

Who We Are

Fogarty Finger (FF) is an interdisciplinary design studio of over 145 architects and designers dedicated to placemaking within the urban built environment. Founded in 2003, FF is responsible for many prominent residential and commercial projects throughout the United States with offices in New York, Atlanta, and Boston.

We believe beautiful spaces build great experiences. Our projects are equally evocative and pragmatic - designed to be enjoyed by everyone. We design for the long term and create thoughtful buildings and interiors with timeless appeal.

About the Role

FF is seeking a talented Senior Designer to join our FF&E studio in New York. You will work closely with senior staff to lead FF&E efforts through every phase of design, collaborating closely with architects, interior designers, consultants, manufacturers, and clients to deliver exceptional environments – from conception to installation. The right candidate brings a balance of technical rigor and design sensibility, paired with strong organizational skills, clear communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. In addition to project work, this position will play a key role in developing Fogarty Finger’s custom furniture collection, working with our leadership team and manufacturing partners to design products that reflect the firm’s design philosophy and craftsmanship. This is a role with real responsibilities and a clear path toward greater project ownership over time.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead all phases of FF&E design for commercial office, hospitality, multifamily, and mixed-use projects
  • Develop project-specific furniture concepts, as well as furniture plans, specifications, finish palettes, and presentation materials
  • Coordinate with architects, interior designers, lighting designers, consultants, and procurement teams
  • Help establish and grow Fogarty Finger’s custom furniture and product design practice.
  • Build strong relationships with manufacturers, showrooms, artisans, and industry partners
  • Stay informed on industry trends and initiatives, new product launches, emerging products and designers, and fabrication techniques
  • Share research and product discoveries with the studio through regular presentations, inspiration boards, and internal design resources
  • Represent Fogarty Finger at industry events, design fairs, showroom openings, NeoCon, ICFF, BDNY, and other trade events to strengthen relationships and identify emerging design opportunities
  • Manage multiple tasks and schedules across concurrent projects with competing deadlines
  • Proactively identify potential issues, document concerns clearly, elevate to senior team members, and propose resolutions
What You Bring
  • Professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or related design discipline from an accredited institution
  • 6–10 years of relevant professional experience at a similar architecture or interior design firm
  • Working understanding of commercial interiors, hospitality, and multifamily design
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to present confidently in both internal and client-facing settings
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering programs (Rhino, SketchUp, Enscape, or V-Ray)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Proficiency in Spexx and/or similar FF&E specification software (preferred)
  • Active pursuit of architectural licensure (ARE) or NCIDQ certification is preferred
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Salary range: $75,000–$95,000 annually (based on experience/skill level)
  • Experience developing complete FF&E packages from concept through construction
  • Ability to translate design concepts into constructible, real-world solutions
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with consultants, clients, and vendors
  • Basic working knowledge of MEP and lighting
  • Hardworking, detail-oriented, and independently motivated, with strong problem-solving skills
Why Join FF?

Since our founding, we've expanded steadily across New York, Atlanta, and Boston, taking on a remarkable breadth of project types along the way. As a mid-sized firm, we blend the best aspects of large and small firm culture. Joining our New York office means genuine exposure to the full arc of design, from early concept through construction administration, across residential, commercial, workplace and hospitality work.
