Job summary

NBBJ is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead large, complex corporate workplace interiors in Seattle and beyond. This strategic role focuses on design leadership, client storytelling, and mentoring the next generation of designers while coordinating with project teams to deliver exceptional spaces.

The position emphasizes design vision, FF&E strategy, and collaboration with project architects to ensure documentation reflects intent. Excellent presentation and BIM skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive interior design experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
• LEED Accreditation or within 18 months of hire preferred; WELL, NCIDQ, or comparable credentials a plus.
• Strong conceptual design and schematic design skills with ability to translate business, culture and workplace goals into compelling interiors.
• Strong verbal and graphic communication skills with the ability to present to senior client stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Revit with 3D modeling skills essential; BIM collaboration with technical teams.
• Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp, Rhino and/or 3DS Max or similar tools.
• Experience in materials and finishes specification and furniture selection.

Responsibilities

• Participate in high-energy, collaborative team environments and set design direction.
• Lead ideation and foster inclusive design processes.
• Lead interior design concepts, workplace narratives, planning strategies, and design development.
• Collaborate with Interiors Project Architects to reflect design intent in documents.
• Develop and implement design concepts and finish palettes across phases.
• Lead client-facing design presentations and workshops.
• Guide FF&E strategy and vendor coordination.
• Collaborate with project managers and consultants to balance design quality with timelines and budget.
• Mentor junior designers through reviews and development conversations.
• Support key corporate growth by strengthening client relationships.
